Routes around Bönigen-Iseltwald

A varied circular tour around Lake Brienz, passing the imposing Giessbach Falls. The breathtaking view of the turquoise-colored Lake Brienz, natural paths, two suspension bridges, and panoramic trails define the tour.
The tour along the Lütschine is also a pleasure on hot summer days. From Iseltwald or Bönigen, you can cycle directly to Wilderswil and follow the route as described.
The tour to Grindelwald takes you along the Lütschine to Zweitlütschinen. From there, the trail climbs steeply up to Burglauenen and then follows a dirt track towards Schwendi and Grindelwald Grund along the cool Lütschine. From Iseltwald or Bönigen, you can cycle directly to Wilderswil and from there follow the route as described.
This challenging day tour takes you along the Lütschine into the valley to Grindelwald and then up to Grosse Scheidegg. After the subsequent descent into the valley, the return journey continues along the turquoise-coloured Lake Brienz.
This tour starts from Brienz. You have the option of travelling along both shores of Lake Brienz to Brienz. Via the route that takes you past the Giessbach Falls (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes) or via the slightly shorter route through the villages of Ringgenberg, Niederried and Oberried (approx. 1 hour). If you want to save energy and muscle power, you can travel by car from Bönigen or by public transport from Interlaken Ost to Brienz, where your tour can begin. Please note that depending on the volume of traffic – especially in fine weather – transport capacity for self-loading bikes may be limited on some connections.

Tours around Beatenberg and Habkern
You can access the following tours from Bönigen. Travel time to Habkern is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, and to Beatenberg around 1 hour and 30 minutes.
If you'd prefer to save energy and muscle power, you can take the PostBus from Interlaken West to Beatenberg und Habkern. Please note that bikes can be transported on the PostBus, but space is limited and reservations are not possible.

Routes from Grindelwald
Several bike trails lead into the mountains from Grindelwald. To conserve your energy and muscle power, you can travel by car from Bönigen or take the train from Interlaken Ost.

A varied single trail that requires advanced mountain biking skills and trail experience. Depending on the light and wind conditions, Lake Bachalpsee enchants with crystal-clear reflections of the surrounding mountains.
The highlight of this tour is the ride past the famous north face of the Eiger. The descent to Lauterbrunnen features a variety of sections, including shaded forest paths, steps, and tight switchbacks.
The ascent follows the paved road towards Bussalp. At the Lochsteinen junction, turn off towards Rasthysi and continue along the trail to the Waldspitz mountain restaurant. The descent leads back into the valley via a hiking trail and a singletrack.
A varied mountain bike loop on the sunny side of Grindelwald, featuring diverse trails and breathtaking panoramic views.
The long ascent takes you up to the Grosse Scheidegg, where you'll be rewarded at the top with a magnificent panoramic view of the Bernese Alps.



Routen from Lauterbrunnen and Mürren
Various bike trails lead from Lauterbrunnen into the mountains. To save energy and muscle power, you can travel by car from Bönigen or by train from Interlaken Ost.
This route offers the perfect combination of steep rock faces and smooth trails, creating pure riding pleasure – a paradise for nature and adventure lovers.
The trail features technically easy paths suitable for beginners. The wide trails invite a relaxed ride, free from technical challenges, all while offering a magnificent panorama. A true insider tip for mountain bikers awaits in Mürren: a hidden trail that remains little known, even in the connected biking world.
A steep road leads from Mürren to Schiltalp, where the official trail ends. After a short stretch to Wasenegg, a breathtaking panorama unfolds before you. From here, a flowing single trail winds its way toward Rotstockhütte – the perfect spot for a break with homemade cake.
The descent offers pure variety: rock slabs, steps, meadows, and forest passages ensure an exciting experience in unspoiled nature.

Mountain bike enthusiasts of all skill levels can train and improve their abilities here. From a beginner-friendly green loop to a challenging black descent, the park offers something for everyone. A dedicated jump line with five jumps gives freestyle riders plenty of airtime and action.

Getting there: There is a car park at the Interlaken Rope Park. A limited number of parking spaces are available at the Rugenbräu Brewery for holders of an annual trail pass. We recommend arriving by bike or public transport. The park is just a 10-minute bike ride from Interlaken West station. If you have an annual trail pass, please use the designated parking area at Rugenbräu.
Visitors are kindly asked to purchase a trail pass to help cover maintenance costs.

From Thun, you can reach both trails either by pedal power or via the convenient bike shuttle.
The Rabenfluh Trail offers a smooth, flowy ride from top to bottom. With plenty of rollers and table jumps, it’s fun for riders of all skill levels whether you want to roll or catch some air.
The Goldiwheel Trail is also flowy and rollable throughout. The second section features a unique jump line that starts with smaller jumps and ends with an impressive 11-metre table—perfect for those looking to push their limits.

The Biketrail Schwanden-Brienz follows the Lammbach stream from Oberschwanden down to Kienholz. The route features a mix of terrain with hills, ramps, jumps, adventurous crossings, and steep bends.
Unfortunately, the severe storm in Brienz during the summer of 2024 also affected the trail. The Lammbach stream overflowed in the middle section, depositing mud and debris along the route. As the lower part of the trail had already been temporarily closed due to flood protection work, only the upper third of the trail (up to Schwanderstrasse) is currently open for riding.

The BLM cable car takes you up to Grütschalp, the starting point of the varied Grütsch-Trail freeride route, in just a few minutes. The trail delivers 3 kilometres of riding, 600 metres of descent, and pure action! Designed for advanced riders, the trail is not suitable for beginners. At the bottom, a road takes you directly back to the cable car valley station.
